Construction and business inventory costs increased again the first quarter of 2026. Rising labour costs and continued wage pressure remain key drivers of cost developments across the construction and industrial sectors.

- Troostwijk Index reached 138.1 points for business buildings, 135.7 points for residential construction and 133.4 points for business inventory.
- Residential construction costs increased 4.1% year-on-year, recording the strongest annual growth.
- Construction and production costs remained under upward pressure due to rising labour costs and contractor rates, while building material prices showed increases in bricks and woods, stable pricing in steel and cement and declines in bitumen and metal products.
- Commodity market volatility, geopolitical and international trade policy continues spreading uncertainty around future costs for energy, metals and industrial materials.
